2. Any testimonial, comment or photograph provided by clients or taken by Make Space for use in the public arena, will be used only with the knowledge and written consent of the client concerned.

3. Please view our full Privacy Policy here.

Travel and Parking

Any travel or necessary parking costs will be discussed and agreed with the client before work is undertaken. We are happy to travel up to 30 minutes each way and this is included in the cost.

Costs

All costs will be agreed with the client beforehand. A fixed rate session can also include any research requested by the client or time spent liaising with third parties such as auctioneers, recycling centres and charity shops. Make Space reserves the right to charge for extra time over and above the session duration at their standard rate of £30 an hour. Please see our pricing and packages page for more comprehensive details of our costs.

Payment Terms

1. The charges for our services and travel costs will be levied at the agreed price following a telephone conversation or a free consultation visit. This will be confirmed by email.

2. A deposit of £50 will be required from all clients prior to work commencing. If just one session is booked we will require full payment in advance.

3. Payment is requested at the end of each session for the services and products provided. If a project continues over several weeks or months, an invoice will be sent fortnightly with payment due in full within 7 days.

4. Payment terms will be stated on invoices. Make Space accept cash, cheques and BACs.

5. Make Space is currently not registered for VAT.

Cancellation

1. We understand that sometimes cancellations are unavoidable both for the client and Make Space. However, if an appointment is cancelled within 48 hours of the booked session, and no replacement session is booked, this may, at the discretion of Make Space, result in a charge and the client’s deposit will not be refunded.

2. Neither Make Space nor the client shall be liable for any failure to perform its duties under this agreement due to circumstances beyond its control, including flood, fire and adverse weather conditions.

Insurance

Make Space are fully insured for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity with Westminster Insurance.

Removal of Items

1. All items to be removed from a client’s premises will be at the client’s discretion and consent. Disposal will not take place without the client’s authorisation.

2. The client is responsible for any items disposed of in the decluttering process.

3. Make Space can recommend or research charities in your area and will endeavour to arrange collection by these charities of large items or a large number of items.

4. If requested by the client, Make Space can advise the client about the removal of large quantities of recyclable items either by the local Council, local Council contractors, social enterprises operating recycling schemes or private companies (see Third Party Suppliers below). Where the organisation charges for this service, Make Space will ask the client to book and pay. If Make Space is asked by the client to organise and pay for this on their behalf then Make Space will advise the client of their charges for doing this.

5. Alternatively, the client may choose to remove the items him/herself, sell them in a car boot sale or over the internet, which is the client’s responsibility.

6. Make Space takes no responsibility for the removal of any items from a client’s premises that a third party has failed to pick up.

7. Depending on the volume of items to be removed a skip may be required. This can be organised by the Make Space consultant if they have at least a week’s notice but payment must be made by the client. The skip hire remains the client’s responsibility for the duration of the hire period.

Disclaimer Regarding Property

1. Make Space undertakes to make reasonable endeavours in providing advice and encouragement in the decluttering, organising and home staging process. Ultimately, it is the client’s decision whether to keep items or to let them go.

2. Make Space can accept no responsibility for the actions the client takes on the basis of that advice or encouragement, or their consequences, whether this be at any subsequent or future date following engagement or consultation. The client is responsible for any items disposed of in the decluttering process.

3. As Make Space are not valuers of art or other items of special value or rarity, the client acknowledges on engaging Make Space that they, the client accept responsibility for either keeping or letting go of any such items. Clients can either seek their own valuations of items or they can ask Make Space to recommend a furniture dealer or a valuer from a reputable auction house. Make Space is not responsible for forming any contractual relationship on behalf of the client with a valuer, a dealer or auction house.

4. At Make Space we handle items with care. In the case of accidental damage or loss, the client acknowledges that Make Space will not be held liable for any losses or damages caused in our engagement.
